Way too many suggestions (and sub-suggestions) for environmental themes to count before it was announced this January 12 that the theme would be "futuristic adventure, though a mixture of themes" possibly even more suggestions for currency names were made before the team decided on "Coins", with suggestions for mineral names being open. For example, before the game's final title was decided within the team, the document had over 80 different titles. The Plan Z Idea List eventually had updates telling people to stop adding ideas once certain aspects of the game were confirmed.

The FL team became aware of this document and promoted their supporters to add their ideas onto it, leading the document to span over 80 pages with over 60 different contributors. The list was initially created because the Discord server started debating about Fantage's good aspects and what could be put into Plan Z, and the Idea List creator decided to host a document so that everyone's good ideas could be saved. Plan Z became such a heated topic of discussion among the Fantage community that someone from jikorox 's Fantage Discord server created what is known among Plan Z supporters as the "Plan Z Idea List". (Shoutout to KawaiiCand圜ake for winning the Plan Z Design Contest!) They also conducted a survey, so that people who were looking forward to Plan Z could share their thoughts on what the game should focus on. A new game, inspired by Fantage, being made by a development team that included a couple of Fantage players who had played within the game's early (and arguably, golden) years showed potential among the community, and many entries were submitted to the FL team. They decided to hold a design contest, where the winning entry would be used as a prototype for the game's playable avatars. What is Plan Z?The FL team decided to switch to "Plan Z", a brand new MMORPG inspired by Fantage. Unfortunately, the official Fantage team threatened to file copyright infringement charges toward the FL team, so the project was canceled.Ī company with their main property closing down soon deciding to file legal threats to a team of people making a private, fan-made, non-profit server of their game, so that fans could still enjoy their original game's charm? Many Fantage fans found this suspicious. Many fans were looking forward to features that the Fantage Legacy team promised would be in this new server, such as membership for everyone and Stars being the only currency in the game (removing eCoins and Gold).
Fantage free membership week update#
An update blog and an Instagram account were made just to provide updates and promote hype around the project. It was announced almost as soon as Fantage's closure was announced, and there was a lot of hype among the community for a while. What happened to Fantage Legacy? Fantage Legacy was the title of a project to create a private, non-profit server of Fantage, made by fans for fans (similar to Club Penguin Rewritten and ToonTown Rewritten for their respective games). But I think, despite all of that, that it was really clear that I did love this game (especially during my first couple of years playing it), and so I was really saddened by this news.Įveryone should now be on the same page, so now let's get onto our first topic of news.įantage Legacy & Plan ZA lot has happened to Fantage Legacy since we last covered it, so I might as well bring in some context and recap what has been happening to it for the past few months. Maybe not, especially since I deleted it (wasn't that great anyway). I've even drawn some really scary art about the game that was essentially a reflection of my feelings towards the game's questionable moments, and I'm sure some of you remember it. Now, I know I've made lots of rants about the game in the past, whether they've made some really weird decisions to discuss about or outright introduced something that made me really mad. They've even already closed down all of their mobile apps and stopped taking payments. Fantage even posted a sign specifically talking about it, including that they're closing on June 30th. If you would like to hear more about this, I recommend you check out our previous journal, made when the news was fresh on everyone's minds.Īfter 10 years of service, Fantage is closing downIt's not a hoax or anything, or one of those little conspiracies that Fantagians on YouTube often make discussing whether the game is closing or not. But I do have some 2 pieces of news to bring, and I think it may interest any of you still out there.įor anyone who somehow missed the news last year (yes, there are people out there who still don't know about this), Fantage closed down last July. It is a bit strange to be posting some news on here after Fantage closed down over 6 months ago, and I'm pretty sure many of the members of this group aren't active within the dying Fantage community or on this site anymore.
